Polish left-wing politicians remember Rosa Luxemburg at her birthplace

Local politicians and members of the Democratic Left Alliance gather at the birthplace of Rosa Luxemburg on May Day 2012.

“It is in this house in 1871 that Rosa Luxemburg was born. She was prominent in the international labour movement. Zamosc, 1979.”

On May Day 2012, local politicians of the Democratic Left Alliance (Poland’s third largest opposition party) gathered in Rosa Luxemburg’s birthplace Zamosc, in south-eastern Poland, to commemorate her life.

NB: According to Zamosc’s local authorities, the house traditionally believed to be Rosa Luxemburg’s birthplace, which is situated in the central square (pictured in the photos) actually has no connection with her. Her real birthplace is a few streets away, and is much less grand…
