The leader of Syriza, the left-wing Greek political party, addressed demonstrators at the annual Luxemburg-Liebknecht demo this Sunday. Alexis Tsipras told the crowd, who were gathered to remember the murder of Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht on 15 January 1919, that the austerity policies imposed on Greece by the German government’s had “failed” and described the rise of the far-right in his country as a “nightmare”.
